Missions and Ministries Supported by St. Paul UMC in 2008

 

Apheius House  - These homes provide clean, affordable housing, meals, transportation, and job placement, along with spiritually-based learning programs to assist men in transition from incarceration back to society as productive citizens

Church Health Center  - The Church Health Center seeks to reclaim the Church’s biblical commitment CHCto care for our bodies and spirits. Our ministries provide healthcare for the poor and promote healthy bodies and spirits for all.

Compassion International - Through this organization, our St. Paul Youth has adopted a child from Africa, Carillary Namare.

Fayette Cares - Empowering those in need with Hope, Independence and Lasting Solutions through a food pantry, shelter, financial aid, thrift shop, help for women/children in domestic violence situations and more.
First Presbyterian Soup Kitchen - The First Presbyterian Soup Kitchen was started more than 15 years ago to provide a hot meal on Sunday afternoons to the homeless and hungry of Memphis. First Church provides the facilities and the leadership while volunteers from churches citywide assist in the weekly food service. They currently serve around 200 men, women and children every Sunday afternoon.
Afterschool programs and Clothes closetFirstWorks - Connecting God's resources in order to renew families and individuals in downtown Memphis. FirstWorks is a non-denominational, faith-based, non-profit 501(c)3 corporation that strives to meet the needs of the hungry, homeless and displaced citizens in downtown Memphis, through a food pantry, clothes closet and extensive children’s programs.
 
Galilean Ministry
Grace Place Prison Ministry - Led by Rev. Dianne Harrison, this ministry at the women’s prison, Mark Luttrell Correctional Center, in Memphis, TN, is a ‘church behind the walls,’ a UMC congregation with built-in support from the outside network. Grace Place believes that women, even incarcerated women, can serve the Lord and experience what it means to be a part of the body of Christ.
Hands & Hearts for Hannah's HopeHannah's Hope -  Loving all God’s children.  Building families through adoptive services.  Promoting responsible choices.
Heifer Project - conducted by our VBS as part of St. Paul Children's Ministry.

Kairos  -  Kairos Prison Ministry International, Inc. is the parent organization of a body of ministries addressing the spiritual needs of incarcerated men, women and children, to their families and to those who work in the prison environment.
 
Lakeshore UM Assembly - From "creek stomping" to star gazing, from rocking chairs to water skiing, Lakeshore United Methodist Assembly offers 1,100 acres of woods, streams, and lakes; a quiet place that shouts the good news that all of us, young and old, are children of God. To compliment and support the ministry of the United Methodist Church, schools, and other non-profit groups, Lakeshore provides varied year round programming whether in comfortable cabins or wilderness tents. Our purpose is for all to know that they have been in the presence of God.
Memphis Interfaith Hospitality Network -The Interfaith Hospitality Network program brings shelter, meals, and support services to families without homes.  IHNs are a cost-efficient, effective, and replicable community response to family homelessness. Because they make use of existing community resources, they can be implemented quickly, without major start-up costs.
Moriah House - Women whose lives have been shattered by domestic abuse, depression, drug and alcohol abuse, and prostitution can receive wholeness and restoration at Moriah House.  Moriah House is Memphis Union Mission’s safe house and discipleship program for women and their children.
Mountain T.O.P. - We are an interdenominational Christian Mission affiliated with the Tennessee Conference of the United Methodist Church, dedicated to rural life ministry in the Cumberland Mountains of Tennessee.
Girl in SudanOne Great Hour of Sharing (World Hunger) through gbgm.org - Working through the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), One Great Hour of Sharing gifts deliver hope that changes everything--hospitality to immigrants and refugees, recovery for survivors of natural disasters, relief for conditions contributing to hunger, poor health, and poverty. We’re the hands and feet of United Methodists in 81 countries worldwide.
Reelfoot Rural Ministries - In Christian love, we seek to provide personal encouragement, material assistance, helpful training and spiritual guidance to children, the elderly, and low-income families in rural Northwest Tennessee and Southwest Kentucky, in a manner that enhances self-esteem and encourages self-support
Service Over SelfService Over Self (SOS Memphis) - St. Paul Youth helps the Memphis/Binghampton area with home repairs.  Our Youth also continues to support with friendship and Christmas gifts our Binghampton Family from 2007.

United Methodist Committee on Relief - Compelled by Christ, UMCOR responds to natural or human made disasters—those interruptions of such magnitude that they overwhelm a community's ability to recover on its own.
United Methodist Neighborhood Centers Whether it’s providing a safe, nurturing environment for children at its downtown child development center, assisting individuals in need of food or financial aid, making the holidays a little brighter for area families, or helping African refugees build a better tomorrow for themselves, UMNC is dedicated to compassionate and loving service.
United Methodist Student Day - Your offering awards scholarships and loans to students attending United Methodist and other accredited colleges and universities.
Volunteers in Mission - Our aim is to achieve the Great Commission through providing short-term mission opportunities for everyday Christians.
Wesley Foundation at The University of Memphis - A United Methodist campus ministry for young adults by young adults at the University of Memphis
